Message from Chairperson

It gives me immense pleasure that I assumed the charge and took the responsibility as the Chairperson of the Manipur Commission for Protection of Child Rights, amidst the pandemic of COVID-19. The challenges posed by the pandemic to the people particularly, Children have strengthened my commitment and priorities to work in promoting and protecting the rights of the child.

The initial first year of my commitment will be towards streamlining and strengthening the activities of the commission in line with the current pandemic situation. However, my primary focus will be, to streamline State authorities and make them cognizant and to pursue them to adopt the Manipur State Policy for Children 2017, which has for long been an unfinished agenda of the Commission. The endeavour for framing and materialising Manipur State Policy for Children 2017 has seen different phases and we earnestly hope that the incumbent government will speedily take up all necessary measures towards adopting of Manipur State Policy for Children 2017 and putting it in force. The policy is of prime importance for securing the rights of children, who are the pillars of the state and the Nation as a whole.

Further, my priorities are also to (i) develop a child friendly eco-system in the state by engaging actively with the stakeholders from the government as well as non-government sectors; (ii) strengthen the child friendly ecosystem/infrastructure at the grassroots level as well as along the villages/ areas in the international borders; (iii) research, publication and audio visual documentation on the mandate of the Commission by engaging experts from various backgrounds.

Last but not the least, our priorities and engagement will only be based on the best interest of the child and the resources of the commission will be optimally utilized to accomplish/achieve the vision.
